I’ve had three pregnancies now, and with each one, I discover new ways to foster a healthy pregnancy. Making Babies, a book and DVD series by herbalist and mommy-of-two Shoshanna Easling, is a resource I found this past pregnancy that I wished I had had way back when I was a newlywed just starting to think about conceiving!
This series takes a comprehensive look at pregnancy from a whole-health perspective. Instead of merely giving you a list of drugs to avoid and telling you to take a “good prenatal vitamin” (like I was told my first pregnancy!), Shoshanna gives a plethora of recipes and tips for proper nutrition for before, during and after pregnancy.
The 465-page, full-color book is divided up into three main sections: Conception through First Trimester, Second and Third Trimesters, and Birth through Six Months. Each section includes both food and skincare recipes geared towards those particular life seasons.
Shoshanna also gives exercises and lots of herbal remedies for pregnancy. There is also an entire section devoted to more whole food recipes, including many gluten-free ones. Along with this, the “Did you Know?” section gives information on a wide range of topics, including fertility, vitamins, morning sickness, colic, postpartum depression, exercise, nursing, labor & delivery, circumcision, herbs and more!
Each tip covered in this section is short yet comprehensive–perfect for a busy, on-the-go mom or mom-to-be who wants to educate herself on the best way to keep herself and her baby healthy.
In another section “Grandma’s Home Remedies,” you’ll find even more recipes for homemade natural personal care items–from toothpaste to deodorant to diaper balm.
The Making Babies collection includes a set of DVDs, which correspond to the three main chapters. If you are a visual learner, the DVDs will be an excellent addition to the book, as Shoshanna shows viewers have to make the various recipes and how to do the various exercises listed in the book.
My favorite part of the DVDs was watching Shoshanna birth her second baby at home! (It’s not graphic but very inspiring! I watched it a couple weeks before birthing Baby Girl #3!)
The Making Babies book and DVD set sell for $110. The book alone costs $35, and the DVD set is $75. Keep in mind that this is NOT an eBook. This is a 465-page, fully illustrated with high quality photographs and chock full of vital information for women in the childbearing season!
The Bulk Herb Store is graciously offering all Humbled Homemaker readers 40% off the set this week! That is a huge savings of $44 dollars! Use code: MBBHHM. You can order here. (The code cannot be combined with any other coupon codes. It can be used to purchase the Making Babies Series Set, the Making Babies book or the Making Babies DVD.)

I saw this giveaway and was so excited! I’ve actually entered two other Making Babies Book/DVD giveaways, but didn’t win
I am a newyled, we celebrate our 6 month anniversary this month. I am very interested in this book/dvd set. I can’t wait to start a family and be healthy while pregnant!
Oh I hope you get it!
It’s a GREAT resource!! I wish I had had it before I conceived my first–or second for that matter!
Even though I didn’t win, thank you for hosting the giveaway!
I’m so sorry you didn’t win, Christa!
I hope you win one somewhere eventually! If you are thinking about purchasing and don’t know whether you want the whole set or JUST the dvds or JUST the book, my personal preference is the book. I am much more apt to sit down with a book–or keep it on my nightstand, etc. than watch a dvd set more than once.
Hi! Great giveaway! I was wondering when the end of the 40% off is. Thanks!
The 18th!
Ah. I wish the discount code didn’t expire before the giveaway ends!
