Today I’m introducing you to what I think is the BEST kitchen appliance ever–my Blendtecmy Blendtec!
Instead of a Christmas gift guide this year, I’ve decided to write a series of posts over the next few weeks introducing you to my most favorite things from around my home. I want to give you a personal look inside my life with these posts and equip you with ideas on what to gift to others (or put on your own Christmas lists!).
First up: my my Blendtec. I’ve had my Blendtec for about four months now, but I knew from the first time I used it that I would never go back to a regular, run-of-the-mill blender. Seriously, I threw in some frozen fruit, water and spinach to give it a whirl for the first time, and I was blown away. I think I just stood in my kitchen in awe for a few minutes because I had just had to ditch my Ninja Pro because it couldn’t handle my intense smoothie making. Before I got a Blendtec, I was happy with my Ninja and used it for about a year before I wore it out. Yes, I wore it out.
(Check out this video of me using my Blendtec for the first time!)
You see, I make at least one smoothie every day. I needed a blender that was capable of handling that much use. My Ninja was not.
Now, the Ninja was indeed more powerful than other blenders I had used. And if you cannot afford a high-powered blender (I know I couldn’t in the past!), then I would have no hesitations recommending a Ninja Pro. It worked great for the season that I needed it.
But until my Ninja gave out, I would have said that there was no reason for me to even think about saving up for a my Blendtec(or any high-powered blender for that matter!)–or to even put it on my Christmas list. Even when my Ninja did break, I thought that, surely, a Blendtec couldn’t be that much better.
Boy, was I wrong! A Blendtec can do so.much.more than a typical blender–yes, even way more than a nice, “regular” blender like Ninja Pro!
My Blendtec 725 and Twister Jar can easily whip up:
- green smoothies and protein shakes (in 40 seconds flat!)–with no chunks!
- ice cream and sorbets.
- soups.
- almond and other nut milks.
- butter.
- pancake and cake batter.
- dips, salad dressings, salsa and hummus.
- shredded meat & finely chopped veggies.
- and so much more!
The Twister Jar can handle things that are thicker, like nut butters and cookie doughs. I have even heard that the Blendtec can grind flour, but I haven’t tried that yet! A Blendtec is so powerful that some people replace their regular blenders, food processors, and flour mills with this one kitchen appliance.
The only negative I can say about the Blendtec is the price. But, really? It’s worth it. I’m not kidding you. I would have balked at that in the past. I would have said: “There is no way a kitchen appliance so small could be so valuable.” But it really, truly is. If I had known then what I know now, I would have put a Blendtec on my Christmas list years ago, or would have put a little bit of money aside each month to save up for one.
Now, if you are not a smoothie-making queen or do not make any of the above concoctions very often, a Blendtec may not be a worthy investment for you. Truly, if it’s just going to sit on your counter, don’t spend money on it! But if you do make those things often (or desire to do so but currently do not because you don’t have the proper appliances to do so), then I would highly encourage you to consider getting a Blendtec sometime in the future.
Blendtecs are an investment, for sure. My model is a Blendtec 725, and it also came with a Twister Jar. This blender normally sells for around $650. But Blendtec also sells several other models–including the Designer Series for $550, and the Total Blender for $230.
If you are interested, click my Blendtec to find out more and get yours (or get your hubby to get it! 😉 ) before they sell out.
And if you get a Blendtec, start with making these smoothie recipes:
Banana-Blueberry Green Tea Smoothie
Smoothie Creamy Clementine Smoothie
Smoothies for Every Season (including some great holiday smoothies!)
Disclosure: I was not compensated monetarily to write this post, although Blendtec did gift me with a free blender and twisty jar. (Thank you, Blendtec!) I have included affiliate links in this post.

Curious if you or any of your readers have compared this side by side to a Vitamix. (That would be an expensive experiment, I know!) I’m still using an Oster blender recommend by Cook’s Illustrated, but have to strain some of my smoothies, which is a pain. I’ve honestly never heard of this blender, and my chef/husband loves the Vitamex he uses in the restaurant. Just curious . . . 🙂

Hi Jennifer! I personally haven’t, but I hear they are very comparable. My friend Stephanie at the blog http://keeperofthehome.org did a side-by-side comparison recently on her site. If you go to her site and search for blendtec vs. vitamix, you will find it! You will definitely not have to strain with either!

I have never used a Blendtec but I can say that I LOVE my Vitamix. I actually read Stephanie’s post about her Vitamix on Keeper of the Home before I purchased it. I use it all the time. From what I’ve read, people love both so I don’t think you could really go wrong with either one. I use mine for soup in the winter a lot more too. It makes really creamy soups. I wrote all about what I use my Vitamix for on my blog as well, (http://www.thispilgrimlife.com/kitchen-workhorse-for-healthy-eating/). I’m sure that most (if not all) the ideas would work for Vitamix or Blendtec.
If someone wants to give you either one, I would definitely jump at that!!!

Hope to get one soon

Dear Erin,
Did your friend ever give away the BlenTec blender for the #mynewnormal contest? I’m sorry to bother you but I haven’t heard anything and I don’t know any other way to contact him. Btw, this blender is on my wishlist and you have me drooling! 🙂

The$50 off link isn’t working. I only get the option to pin. It doesn’t take you anywhere.

I am planning to buy one soon. Glad I read your review. Can’t wait to have one for myself.
