Some days are long, but remember that the years are short. Don’t be afraid to live life with your children … the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I’m not going to lie, the days can be brutally tough. Not all of them, but a string of challenging days in a row can bruise the soul.
We aren’t positioned in the office where people around us wake up to put their best foot forward in order to impress their boss.
We wake up to messy-haired kids, morning breath, and demands for breakfast.
It can get downright exhausting. We have all been there.
It’s so easy to get lost in the pity of days that are a struggle. Our vision becomes blurry as we attempt to walk through less than perfect circumstances.
We fix our eyes on the temporary, forgetting all about the eternal.
Ladies, we have something the work force doesn’t have. We can be REAL.
How freeing is that?
We can live a transparent, imperfect life that boasts the need for a perfect Savior to shine through our mess. His grace abounds in our weakness.
His love is a steady love no matter our feeling or emotions within any given moment.
We have the freedom to go to our children at the end of the day and call it for what it was, “A ROUGH DAY.”
We can say to our children, “Today wasn’t our best of days, let’s hit it out of the park tomorrow.”
The point is: Don’t beat yourself up, sweet mama. Yes, some days are long, but you don’t need me to tell you that the years are short.
Live life with your children–the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Be real! Let them see you on your knees, talking to the only One who can help.
Model for them the beauty of a humble heart.
Give them the opportunity to see God pick you up and carry you through.
What a gift to give our children!
God’s callings aren’t always easy, but are well worth it.
We are investing day in and day out with a return we could never imagine.
We are discipling our children as we walk life with them.
They notice how we handle it, and, more than likely, that’s how they will handle it too.
Let’s show grace when needed to them and to ourselves.
We must keep trucking along with tender smiles. The enemy is looking for an opportunity to pounce.
We must always be on guard, reevaluating our perspectives.
This race is filled with valleys and mountains, holes, and sweet spots.
How will we run it?
Some days it is one foot in front of the other, some days we try to linger in the goodness, and some we try to sprint through.
Let’s run each day at the steady pace the Lord has set before us, for it’s what we do in the midst that counts.
My dear friends, we must remember God’s sweet promise: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
When the days are long, bring the truths from your heart to your mind. Everyone has long days, but this gift of motherhood is worth it … He’s got this!
How about you? How do you survive when the days are long?

I have been making a real effort to remember that this time with littles is really quite short. It is definitely hard some days, but I feel like I have completely changed my perspective, and it has been a really positive experience. I’m not sure how I have turned so positive, but it has definitely helped my overall well-being! But, when the days are especially long, I call a timeout and put on a movie for everyone.
