Today I’m introducing you to my absolute favorite baby carrier–the Boba Classic! You can get the Boba–as well as a variety of other natural parenting and cloth diapering products–at Sweet Little Blessings or on Amazon.
The Boba is what made me fall in love with baby carrying. With my first, I didn’t really baby carry at all (except in my arms).
I owned two baby carriers back then–a Snuggli and an Infantino sling. I could never figure out how to put the Snuggli on properly or get her in without upsetting us both. Thankfully, we only made it through the Infantino one time because it later got recalled!
But with my second, I discovered the Boba. I had several friends recommend both the Boba and the Ergo, but one friend who owned both told me she much preferred the Boba. I tried hers on and couldn’t believe how easy peasy it was to get it on and off!
It was exactly what this often-clumsy-oh-so-humbled homemaker needed to go from baby wearing failure to baby wearing success!
The benefits of babywearing are many, including:
- helps mother and baby bond,
- relaxes/calms baby,
- helps you give baby your full attention,
- helps baby learn about the world,
- helps baby learn balance,
- helps reassure baby that mother is there,
- frees mother’s hands for cooking, cleaning and tending to other children,
- helps mothers to read baby’s cues,
- can help facilitate breastfeeding,
- and more! (source)
I have worn my babies in the Boba:
- while cleaning,
- while cooking,
- while tending the garden,
- while picking blueberries,
- while at church (we are avoiding the nursery until at least the spring!),
- while at MOPS meetings,
- while grocery shopping (leaves SO much more room in the cart for food!),
- while on family outings–such as to the zoo,
- and during many other occasions!
The Boba has enabled me to do all of this with my 2nd and 3rd babies (and I so regret that I did not have it with my first!). You can carry your baby in a Boba once he or she is able to hold his or her own head up–at around 3-4 months. (I used a Moby Wrap on Baby Girl during the newborn stage.)
As my babies grow, I love being able to still keep them close. I sense that it comforts them as well.
The Boba can fit up to 35 pounds, so I could actually still carry my 4 1/2 year old and especially my 2 year old in it! Husbands can also wear Bobas!
I especially love how comfortable the Boba is. I do have a ring sling, but it does not distribute the baby’s weight evenly as the Boba does!
Before I started babywearing, it was so intimidating to me. For that reason, I’ve made a vlog to show you just how easy it is to get the Boba on and off. Seriously–if I can do it then anyone can!
If I could only buy ONE baby carrier, it would be the Boba. It is seriously worth every penny even when not on sale–and I do not say that about many things! I love, love, love it!!
Check out this video of me wearing the Boba:
When I saw that one of our sponsors, Sweet Little Blessings, had recently started carrying the Boba, I jumped at the chance to ask if they would consider giving a discount to their store when I ran this post…and they said yes!
Do you wear your babies? What’s your favorite baby carrier?

With my first child (11 years ago) I only carried him in my arms. With my 2nd child (6 years ago) I started looking into natural childbirth because the birth of my first was HORRIBLE, but that’s a different story:) so while looking into NCB, I saw ideas about baby-wearing which fit right into my idea of how I liked to always be holding my child but would still allow me to do some stuff and take care of my, then, 5 yr. old. So I found Hotslings. I liked it alot, although it only really allowed one hand free, that was much better than no hands free which is what I had with my first child:) I just had my third child (4.5 weeks ago) and had a friend introduce me to a moby wrap. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!! It’s so much better than the Hotsling. It allows both hands free but he feels so secure and is essentially swaddled while he is in there and is soothed by both the sound of my heartbeat (his head is right over my chest) and my voice when I talk or sing. It is perfect for us and he falls asleep within minutes every time I put him in it:) and thankfully there are instructions all over the web to make your own moby wrap, so you don’t have to pay an arm and leg for the name brand!!

The Moby is my favorite for the newborn stage! I wish I had had one with my first, too!

Great post!
My husband and I wore our son often when he was little. We actually still use carrier now for outings and lots of walking where a stroller won’t work. I didn’t really like the carrier we had, it was hard to use but we got accustomed to it. I think with baby #2, Lord willing, we’ll try a Boba. Thanks for the recommendation.

I hope you can get one, too! I LOVE it!

I wore all four of my babies, starting in 1976, in our own design, modified from the La Leche League carrier back then. When they got old enough, I switched to a back pack style carrier with a frame. I never used a stroller, and carried two at a time, one front, one back, even with two soft carriers when I was babysitting a fussy baby the same age as my first. As a grandmother, my daughter introduced me to the Moby, and I carried my grandchildren in it and loved the design. I will definitely look at the Boba for the next grandchild.

Wow! That’s great! I love the Moby as well! The Boba is my favorite, though! I think it’s because you can use it so long.

I have both the moby wrap and a baby hawk mei tei. I love the moby for when my babies are little little, as it snuggles them in so tight. But, once they start putting on the pounds, I felt like the material stretched too much, so I use my baby hawk. I have yet to figure out how to wear my son on my back though…I think I need someone else to help me, which defeats part of the purpose, I think. My baby hawk is a wrap tie, like the moby, so I have been itching to get something more like the ergo or boba. Someday…

I hope you can get one!

You did great! 🙂 I like it – I love my Ergo, so I can’t really see getting another carrier. But this one looks fabulous!
Erin
Thanks! You’ll have to try mine this weekend!

Love the video! Your daughter made me LOL! Sounds like my boys when I’m taking a million photos of them cooking in the kitchen to post on my blog! hee hee! I loved wearing my babies, but the options weren’t as great as they are today! What an awesome looking baby carrier! Enjoy those little baby moments, they fly by far too quickly. Can’t believe my two will be in high school and jr high soon! Love, kel

Thanks for the reminder that they grow so fast! Yes–it was so funny when she said that!

I love my Ergo. I use it all the time. I haven’t really been using it much in the last two weeks because Lucas turned one and wants to walk everywhere. Before that though, I would put it on and I would do everything. Lucas could nurse, sleep or just ride and check out the world. Soon I will be switching him to my back when I don’t want to wait. I have gardened with one of them and it is safe to wear when you are pregnant. I love baby wearing. Thanks for putting such a positive post out there.

Thanks for the good review! This is actually my favorite carrier too… When DS was over a year, I started researching between the Ergo and Boba and found the Boba seemed to fit our needs better. It has worked so well for us! We primarily used back carry since he was already a toddler when I got it. I got pregnant when DS was 20 months old and stopped wearing him in it when he was around 22-23 months because it was too uncomfortable on my tummy.
Up until he was about 5 months old, I used the Moby wrap, and then we used a padded shoulder Mei Tai style carrier for a long time, but that became too short in the body. I think the Boba carries more comfortably than my Mei Tai also, for heavier babies/toddlers. I use a jogging stroller now, but I am looking forward to wearing our next baby, due in March. Baby wearing is definitely the way to go! 🙂

I’m trying to decide between Boba and Tula right now, and having so much trouble! I’ve been leaning toward Tula because of their materials, but haven’t seen a lot of reviews. I know tons of people who love the Boba though. Have you tried a Tula carrier or have any advice? Thanks!
