Guest Post by Kelly of Generation Cedar
I am a busy mom. I just gave birth to my tenth child. I almost had him in the car, but we did slide in on two tires in the nick of time to get me to my room. At home now, I’m juggling the demands of a large family…healing from childbirth…adjusting to a new little person. It’s overwhelming, but that’s normal!
But I’m more aware now than ever of the importance of my health, not only for helping me regain strength after a baby, but also for maintaining the energy I need to be the homemaker in this buzzing household!
I actually remembered that I had written the ebook, Easy Health for Busy Moms, and thought it would be a good idea to read that again. I’m so glad I did! It was the inspiration and reminder I needed to begin my road back to health and regain some much-needed energy.
It also reminded me of so many little changes I can make in our family’s diet to help keep everyone feeling their best.
If you are a busy mom, chances are you have put your health on the back burner from necessity and lack of time. Don’t do that! There are many things you can do to boost your health without sacrificing too much time and money.
Here are five easy health tips for busy moms that I’ve implemented back into my routine:
1. Rebounding
Rebounding is touted to be one of the best overall exercises for the whole body (it may even help you prevent cancer!). It only takes 5 minutes a day. You can get high-quality rebounders on Amazon.
2. Squeezing lemon in your water
Highly alkalizing, lemon water helps to balance your body’s pH; a very important part of avoiding illness.
3. Adding spinach to fruit smoothies and juice
Iron deficiency is the cause of much fatigue among women (I have dealt with this chronically). Just being more conscious of adding iron-rich foods to your diet can make a big difference in the way you feel. Eat more beef, egg yolks, liver, oysters, prunes, and artichokes, and toss an extra handful of spinach in your morning smoothie! For other ways to boost your iron levels, check out this post.
4. Getting sunshine every day
Most women are deficient in vitamin D. Vitamin D helps promote strong bones and teeth, helps prevents cancer, diabetes, heart attacks, and arthritis! It is vital for too many things to list here. Enjoy some quiet time in the sun and remember the benefits to your body.
5. Taking magnesium
Magnesium is another super important mineral with too many benefits to name, but include relief from menopausal and PMS symptoms, body temperature regulation, detoxification, energy production, and the formation of healthy bones and teeth. Here’s a liquid magnesium/calcium supplement that’s easy to take.
I’m also remembering my super foods (listed in the book) and adding them to our meals in every way possible. Already I feel so energized! And with ten kids at the age of 40, that’s a really good thing.

Note from Erin: Here are the 5 healthy habits I’m working on implementing in my own life!
Kelly and her husband Aaron live in the South, raising their ten children, enjoying an entrepreneurial way of life on a small farm. Kelly is an author and blogger at Generation Cedar where she strives to encourage women to embrace their freedom and power in God’s design for their lives. Once steeped in feminist thought then given beauty for ashes, Kelly now enjoys the ever-sanctifying work of Christ that has brought enlightenment and freedom, as well as a passion for teaching others about their identity in Christ and the work He longs to do through His church. Her most recent book, When Motherhood Feels Too Hard, has received rave reviews as a powerful, vision-renewing devotional to inspire, encourage and cheer on the “life-shapers” of the next generation.

I drink whey and acv in my water everyday. Whey keeps my joints limber and the acv keeps my stomach acid high aiding digestion. Makes a world of difference in my day.

I take a probiotic every day. Helps with digestion and prevention of colds and other illnesses.

A biggie for me is getting enough rest. I have a sweet new baby (number five for us), and it’s just hard to get enough SLEEP these days!
Thank you for these tips! I love how simple yet effective they are.

I felt the same with baby #3. I can imagine it’s even harder to get rest with baby #5 (or #10 like Kelly). Hope you are both getting the rest you need!

Drink lots of coffee, lol! Just kidding! But seriously, take time for your personal pick-me-up. For me its coffee. Oh, and trace minerals. We just found out about all the benefits from trace minerals and its making a big difference for both hubby and me. Especially in mental clarity.
