As a certified Trim Healthy Mama coach, I am frequently asked about the Trim Healthy Mama books. The coaching program did not exist when I was learning how to eat the Trim Healthy Mama way, and I taught myself the plan by reading and studying the books.
While I absolutely believe in the investment of hiring a coach (and I would love to help those of you who want to work with me!), I 100% understand that not everyone can afford the investment or feels they have the time to work with a coach.
One of the many things that I love about Trim Healthy Mama is that you do not have to pay anyone to learn the plan. You can literally get the books from the library and learn it yourself!!
Yes, a coach can help you clarify the plan and get results faster, but I would never suggest that someone has to hire one in order to make Trim Healthy Mama successful.
The following are all of the official Trim Healthy Mama books, with my brief summary of each. I have all of these books, but I purchased them over a number of years. If you only have the money to purchase one right now, my recommendation is to purchase Trim Healthy Table. I tell why in my summary of this book below.
While I have found the cookbooks incredibly beneficial to my Trim Healthy Mama journey, they are not necessary to follow the plan either. In fact, I have one 1:1 coaching client who has had great success on the plan who gets all of her recipes from free blogs on Pinterest.

Trim Healthy Mama Plan
This is the book that explains the full Trim Healthy Mamaplan. If you really want to wrap your mind around the plan and enjoy reading health books, you will love this one! Some people still find this book confusing and request coaching, but it is fully possible to comprehend the plan on your own by studying this book. Get it here.

Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook
IÂ love this cookbook. Even when I went a few years without following Trim Healthy Mama (to my own detriment!), I still used this cookbook all the time. The recipes are very family-friendly and easy to follow. I really feel like having this cookbook (and the one below) has played an integral part in my success following the Trim Healthy Mama plan. While the plan is fully possible without the cookbooks, it made the plan so much easier. Get it here.Â

Trim Healthy Table
If you can only afford one Trim Healthy Mama book, I recommend you get this one. Not only is it full of recipes to help you implement the plan, but it also includes a plan summary at the beginning of the book. If you are new to the plan, I recommend you get this one, read the plan summary, and start making the recipes. Our kids love the recipes from this family-friendly cookbook! Get it here.
This is the newest Trim Healthy Mama cookbook and is written by the niece of the sisters who developed the plan. I got it for my 40th birthday, and while I really like it, I don’t like it quite as much as the other two Trim Healthy Mama cookbooks. It has a ton of unique recipes, but it’s not quite as family friendly (there are a lot of beverage recipes, which just isn’t something I make a lot). One unique thing is that it includes an entire section on air fryer recipes, which is trendy and fun! My favorite smoothie recipe–the Mint Chip Ice Cream Shake–comes from this book! Get it here.

Trim Healthy Mama Starter Book
This book was the answer to the complaint that the Trim Healthy Mama Plan book was too difficult for some ladies to understand. It gives a more summarized version of the plan in layman’s terms, and it gives 50 of the best starter recipes. I own the ebook version of this book, but I have not personally used it, so I can’t speak to whether or not someone should get it. Trim Healthy Table is usually cheaper on Amazon, and it has way more recipes, so I would personally recommend getting that one before getting this one. But if you want it, get it here.
Trim Healthy Mama (original plan book)Â
This is the book that started all of the other books. It is huge (more than 600 pages!) and lays out the Trim Healthy Mama plan, gives a ton of recipes, and has chapters with other health tips as well–like exercise and hormones. I love this book, and because I’m a certified Trim Healthy Mama coach who fully understands the plan, I have found that this book adds immense value to my Trim Healthy Mama library. There are recipes in this book that are not any of the cookbooks as well (although there are some of them that are included in the other cookbooks). The recipes don’t have pictures, though, and are not written as well as the recipes in the official cookbooks.
Many women found the original plan book much harder to understand and follow, and that’s why the sisters who developed the plan eventually came out with the Trim Healthy Mama Plan and subsequent cookbooks.
I would not get this book unless you just want to add to your Trim Healthy Mama collection after you fully understand the plan. If you do want to get it, get it here.
