  • Week 4: Fuel Cycle Success
    If you're stuck in a rut, an occasional fuel cycle may be just want you need to shake up your metabolism & get the scale moving again. In this class, Coach Erin will cover a full fuel cycle, a mini fuel cycle, and how some use this technique to climb out of a stall.

About Erin Odom--Your Certified THM Coach

I’m Erin, and I once was where you may find yourself now.

I began the Trim Healthy Mama way of eating in January 2019 after realizing my BMI categorized me as obese!

After having three babies in four years, I packed on the pounds to a weight I never imagined possible. Growing up, I was naturally thin, and the baby weight easily melted off my 20-something body after giving birth to my first child. It took me a year to “bounce back” the second time around. But after having my third and fourth babies in my 30s and suffering through gestational diabetes during my pregnancies, the weight wouldn’t budge.

Before conceiving my fourth child, I discovered Trim Healthy Mama. I quickly fell in love with this low-glycemic way of eating. Whereas other diets confused me, this plan made sense! I didn’t feel deprived, and I could even eat sweets without compromising my blood sugar. I lost 25 pounds before conceiving baby #4.

While I initially came home from the hospital at only ten pounds heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight, the stress of having a newborn with some medical issues, parenting three other children, and running my business consumed me during my son’s first two years of life. Instead of sticking with the healthful, Trim Healthy Mama way of eating, I succumbed to binging on “light” popcorn and “organic” cheese puffs–or downing whatever snack I could get my hands on after going hours and hours without eating.

I could feel my blood sugar fluctuating via mood swings, shakiness, and fatigue, and there was even one time when I nearly dropped my newborn son when my blood sugar became dangerously low.

By the time my son was 22 months old, in December 2018, I knew something had to change. I got on the scale that month for the first time since he was born, and my heart sunk when I realized I had gained 30 pounds in the nearly two years after his birth! I took pictures of myself in a mirror, and I nearly broke into tears when I saw my reflection. I already knew I was high risk for type 2 diabetes because of a strong family history, past case of gestational diabetes, and my age. When I saw my belly fat, I thought: “I look like diabetes or heart disease waiting to happen!” This terrified me. I calculated my BMI and faced the hard truth that I was no longer just overweight. I was obese.

I knew what I needed to do: I could choose to a healthy, low-glycemic way of eating now, or I would be forced to eat this way later because of disease. I chose the former and haven’t looked back. I lost 30 pounds in 2019, and I’m committed to eating the Trim Healthy Mama way–for life.

My eating habits are better than they’ve ever been, and I have the tools I need to make wise foods choices both now and in the future.

On top of losing weight, I’ve experienced many NSVs–Non-Scale Victories–because of Trim Healthy Mama. I’ve seen my energy levels increase, my anxiety diminish, and my cholesterol and blood sugar levels stabilize.

And, yes, I’ve gone down several sizes and can fit into those jeans I had moved to the back of the closet!

How do you know if you need a Trim Healthy Mama Coach? 

If you are confused or overwhelmed by the Trim Healthy Mama plan, a coach can help you gain clarity and confidence and find success much faster than following the plan on your own.

Q: How is this coaching group different from 1:1 coaching?

1:1 coaching is time-consuming for both me and my clients, and is, therefore, is more expensive. Group coaching gives me the ability to serve clients at a lower price point while arming them with a ton of resources and teachings that will set them up for success. As well, group coaching comes with a built-in support network of other Trim Healthy Mamas who can join you on your journey for years to come.

Q: How much time will I need to dedicate to the coaching group each week?

That is really up to you, but I will guarantee that the more time you spend attending the weekly class and Q&A, participating in group discussions, and consuming and using the handouts, the more success you will see. 

While every class will be recording, plan on spending an hour to an hour and a half each week to watch the live teachings and Q&A times, at the very least. Plan on checking the Facebook group at least once per day as well.

Q: I can barely keep up with my personal life. How can I add participating in a coaching group to my long to-do list?

I get it. I really do. Sometimes life is too busy for things like coaching. If you do not feel you have the margin in your life for coaching right now, it may not be the best time to sign up for this group. I plan on offering coaching groups several times per year. However, it is important to note that the price will go up the next time this group runs, as I am launching it with a special introductory rate.

Q: Do I get lifetime access to the coaching materials?

Absolutely! All handouts, cheat sheets, and bonus printables are yours to keep for good! Please note that these are copyrighted, so please do not distribute them to others. If your friends would like them, please refer them to the next time I run this course. (They can sign up for my waiting list here.)  If you purchased the workbook, that is yours to keep for life as well! I will be sharing links to the live recordings as well. Those may not remain live forever, so please try to watch those as soon as you can. 

Q: What if I start coaching and can't keep up?

Life happens! That's why this program includes lifetime access to all the printable materials. I do encourage you to watch the video teachings as soon as you can, as those may not be live hosted forever, and I will be re-recording them with each new group I offer. 

Q: Do I have to be free at a specific time every week?

Nope! The live classes will be taking place on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. EST but some may be in the evening depending on my children's end-of-school year events. I give lifetime access to replays, so only about half of my students come to the live teaching times. Many watch at their own pace throughout the program. 

 

Q: Do I have to have Facebook to participate?

It would be very beneficial to have Facebook, as the support group is an integral part of group coaching. If you do not currently have a Facebook account, I would encourage you to make one just for the duration of this group. Our live classes will take place on Zoom.

Q: Do you offer refunds?

Due to the nature of group coaching, I do not offer refunds.

Q: How is Trim Healthy Mama Builders different from your 6-week program, Trim Healthy Mama Basics?

Trim Healthy Mama Builders is a 4-week coaching group for ladies who have either already been through my 6-week program or who have lived the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle for some time and already know the plan very well.

This is the ideal coaching group for ladies who are stuck in a rut, need more inspiration, have seen the scale completely stall out (before reaching a realistic “queen” weight), or who just need some extra encouragement and accountability in this season of their lives.  

Through my coaching training and personal experience, I have learned some tips and tricks that can help you get to a weight you can maintain--or get the scale moving again. I will be sharing those more advanced topics in our live teaching and coaching times during this group. 

This group is not ideal for brand new THMamas who are still getting a basic grasp on the plan.

 

Q: Do I have to be a THM “expert” to be in this coaching group?

Absolutely not! I am a certified THM expert, and I am here to guide you. This group is for ladies who already know the “basics" and are ready to take this lifestyle to the next level.

 

Q: Is this group the same as your “Summer Slimdown"? 

Good question! The answer to this one is no. 

I will be hosting the 2022 Summer Slimdown for 3 weeks in July. 

My seasonal “reboot” camps are a step between my Basics and Builders groups and are more like a short burst challenge clients and I do together. 

THM Builders is a more comprehensive learning and coaching experience. Ladies who have taken my THM Basics and THM Builders groups have gone into my seasonal reboot groups with a much deeper knowledge of how to make THM work for life. 

 

Q: Will you be running the Trim Healthy Mama Builders program any other time this year? 

I will be, but it will not be until fall, after school starts back. I will be raising the price of the program by $25 at that time. As well, I am currently contemplating turning this into a self-paced program instead of having the live coaching group during the 4 weeks, so, to be honest, it is possible this will be the final time I teach the program as the constant 4 weeks of support that it currently is. I will make that decision over the summer.
