Today’s post gives two ideas for non-messy, easy Christmas crafts for the not-so-crafty mom–like me! Enjoy!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I.am.not.crafty.
Unless it’s through a resource like Truth in the Tinsel’s daily Advent activities that are all laid out for me, I totally stink at Christmas crafting. But my girls…oh, my girls absolutely love it! The girls and I have labeled my hubby the “King of Crafts” because, well, Daddy just does them better than Mommy does!
It’s not that I hate doing crafts. It’s just that I’m not coordinated with my hands! Maybe I just never had enough practice with fine motor skills as a preschooler! Ha!
Without further ado, check out these two non-messy, easy Christmas crafts for the not-so-crafty mom. If I can figure these out, anyone can! (And you crafty moms may like these, too!)
Sticky “Snowball” Ornaments
This craft was inspired by this video.
Supplies
- decorative (like Seasonal Sweets, Snowman, Holiday Bows or Penguin) or colored Duck Brand® Tape
- upcycled old glass (or plastic) ornament balls (or buy some from the Dollar Store or Walmart…color doesn’t matter! You could even use styrofoam balls. Get whatever is the cheapest or is in line with what you allow in your home!)
- string, pipe cleaners, yarn or something else to create the hanging element
Directions
- Tear tape off of roll in 1-2 ” squares. It does not matter if the squares are perfectly measured or even perfectly square! (HUGE plus for us non-crafties!)
- Cover ball completely with tape.
- Tear off more tape. Pinch the middle of the tape to bunch it together and stick it on the ball as well. This creates a funky, artsy, layered look.
- Use string, bent pipe cleaner, yarn or something else to insert through the top of the ornament to create the hanging element.
Christmas Chain
This craft was inspired by this video. My girls LOVED this craft! We are using this as our Advent, count-down-to-Christmas chain this year!
Supplies
- decorative (like Seasonal Sweets, Snowman, Holiday Bows or Penguin) or colored Duck Brand® Tape
Directions
- Tear tape into strips of 8-9″ long.
- Fold tape in half to match the sticky sides together.
- Fold each strip into a ring. Tape the ring together with a smaller piece of Duck Tape.
- Continue to make more rings for your chain and loop them together, using a small piece of Duck Tape to secure the rings together.
