White vinegar is an amazing, non-toxic tool that should be in every natural homemaker’s arsenal. It’s natural, frugal and even edible! Any grocery store carries it, but you can also buy it in bulk on Amazon. And for all the things you’ll be using it for after you read this list, bulk might not be a bad idea! 😉

Two of my other favourite multi-purpose housekeeping ingredients are baking soda and super washing soda. I love that all of these staples are so frugal, yet have so many uses. I’m always discovering new ones!

Good Morning Erin! Thanks for highlighting my DIY citrus vinegar! Just last night we used it to clean pencil and paint off the kitchen table (no thanks to a mischievous 4-year-old). No complaints about the smell whatsoever! Have a blessed day! ~Tiffany

I love Citrus Vinegar, but hadn’t thought to infuse with lavendar- I’ll have to give that a try!
We also use vinegar on sunburns. It stings a bit, but the burn goes away faster.
Erin
Thanks so much for the sunburn tip! That’s so good to know! We are a family of redheads, so burns can be an issue! Yes–the lavender looks so great!

I switched to cleaning with vinegar last year and I am SO glad I did! So far, I use it as a bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, glass cleaner, fabric softener, and as a refresher if my clothes have sat in the washer too long. My husband doesn’t care for the smell but I always clean when he’s not home so its not a big deal. In my bathrooms, I make a solution with vinegar and tea tree oil and I love it. Now I’m gonna go check out some of the other ideas on your list! ( :

I use white vinegar to wash my fruit/veggies. Just pour 1 cup in a sink full of water and add the fruit/veggies and they get SUPER clean. Like you can see the dirt in the sink when you drain the water. Also removes alot of the wax from the apples if you dont buy organic.
After you soak for 20 mins, rinse in cool water and dry with a clean dish towel.

I live in Houston (the humidity capital of Texas) and to keep my dishrags from smelling musty, I throw them in a large tupperware container of vinegar each night until washing day. I wring them out the day I wash towels and throw them into the washing machine. No more stinky rags!!! Thank you for this awesome post.
