Most days, by the time bedtime has arrived I’m exhausted and more than ready for the day to be over. One of the best ways to end one of those days is to use these simple DIY Oatmeal Lavender Bath Teas.
Being a mom is exhausting (even if your kids are perfect angels). Let’s be honest, life is exhausting – kids or not. Trying to balance being the best mom and wife we can while living on a limited budget of money and time isn’t easy.
As homemakers, our lists are endless. There’s always cooking to be done. Laundry that needs to be washed. Kids that need attending to. Nights that include lots of waking. It’s easy to be in survival mode.
Taking a few (needed) minutes at the end of the day to de-stress and relax can do a lot for our emotions.
Stress and “to do” lists can disappear for just a little while as I sit back and relax, letting the DIY Oatmeal Lavender Bath Teas do the work.
Why These Ingredients?
The lavender will help ease your stress and worries and relax your muscles, hopefully making it easier for you to sleep as well.
The oatmeal will help soften and moisturize your skin.
Relaxation, stress release, and better sleep are all benefits of Epsom salts.
Coconut oil helps with moisturizing.
I don’t think a bath can get much better than that. Okay, well maybe adding some dark chocolate (or fudge) and a good book would improve upon it, but other than that it sounds about perfect!
Let’s Put the Bath Teas Together!
Projects that can be done quickly are a necessity – these tea bags will be done in minutes and you can easily adjust the amounts to make a larger (or smaller) batch. If you don’t have the time to round up the ingredients or put them together, check out my Etsy shop! They are available there (along with lip balms, room sprays, and earrings).

How much did everything cost and where did you purchase the tea bag things?
Deanna
Ashley – I bought that huge bag of Epsom salts at Wal-Mart it costed 5 something if I remember correctly. I already use coconut oil so I just took a tablespoon from my stash in the kitchen, rolled oats are something else that we always have in our kitchen (but a 15 cup carton of those is under $3).
The most expensive item is the lavender – I bought a large bag from Mountain Rose Herbs (and Erin has a link in the post to purchase them at Bulk Herb Store). If you purchase the 8 ounce bag of lavender, you’ll get almost 100 tea bags out of it (and have leftover epsom salts)!
The press and seal tea bags I also purchased from Mountain Rose Herbs (https://www.mountainroseherbs.com/search?page=1&q=press+and+brew+tea+bags&utf8=%E2%9C%93) but don’t forget, you can also just use an organza bag and clip it with a bag clip (otherwise the ingredients will find their way out and be floating in the water 🙂 ).
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks so much for such a great guest post, Deanna!!

Hi! 🙂
I was wondering how long do these usually last? Like do these become spoiled? I’d love to make a few but I am just concerned on their expiry.
Thank you so much!
Precious
Also do I have to let the mixture air dry for a few minutes before storage?
Thank you! 🙂

The timeliness of this makes me laugh. I just had one of the least relaxing baths I’ve had in a long time today. For starters, I ran out of hot water after the tub was barely a third of the way full because I ran a load of laundry on hot (very atypical for me) and I had let my kids play in the kitchen sink while giving my baby a bath just before. Then, the skin on my legs started getting irritated from either using too much or simply the wrong combination of oils in the water (also atypical). My in laws were on there way over and I was supposed to be rejuvenating before their visit. Um, not so much.
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I look forward to an actual, RELAXING, bath very soon! 😉

That is funny–after the fact! I love REALLY hot water in my relaxing baths! Thanks for sharing!

This would be amazing after a day like today. Is anyone else feeling overwhelmed on hump day like me? Time for bath teas.

It does sound amazing! I was really tired yesterday!

This sounds incredible! Thanks so much for sharing it, Deanna. I’m pinning this on 2 of my boards.
I sometimes take baths with epsom salts and essential oils. I’m definitely trying this one next time.
I can’t wait to make these for Christmas gifts this year.

I love using lavender bath products. I make my own lavender bath salts, but I need to try this too!

I *love* baths with Epsom salts and lavender! I haven’t added oatmeal yet, but I should with all of this cold weather we’re having. Great idea!

Why do you pulse it all together vs just mixing it up with a spoon?

I love all these ingredients. Can they be used to make home made soap?
