Fall is my favorite season! It’s not quite yet fall weather here in Tennessee but I know it’s right around the corner.
I have been trying to avoid using the oven since ours is gas and it heats up the whole house, although the warmth has been feeling nicer as fall is approaching.
Using the crock-pot is a great way to avert the heat… PLUS, it’s easy!
Dump ingredients, turn on and walk away. Well, it’s mostly that easy. Most recipes like chili or stew are that easy but this one needs some attention here and there.
My daughter loves to help me cook, whether it’s cleaning the produce, cutting up veggies or adding things to the pot, crock-pot in this instance. I try my best to teach her what a good homemaker is because one day she might be one. I am still a work in progress and fail miserably at times but I hope I am instilling in her a love for God, how to love her husband, be a mother and how to keep a home, among other things.
She even helped me make this recipe and take pictures with me after.

I hope you enjoy this apple crumble!
It’s perfect for fall, especially if you can go apple picking to get the apples. One of my other fall favorites are these Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins–everything’s better with pumpkin or apples in fall!
What’s your favorite fall treat? Have you had an apple crumble yet this fall?

Can all purpose flour be used and regular sugar or brown sugar?
Rachel @ day2dayjoys
Renee, Yes, you could sub the coconut flour for any other, as well as the coconut sugar. I’d use brown sugar instead of regular to give in the same type of flavor. Hope you love it!
Pam
Most oats contain gluten – this recipe would not be safe for someone with celiac
Rachel @ day2dayjoys
Pam, you are right! Someone with celiac disease probably already knows what their body can/cannot handle and knows that the oats used need to be pure, uncontaminated oats to avoid a trigger a reaction. So if you are celiac, please be mindful of consuming oats!
Cindy
Yes, people with Celiac understand the issue with oats. However if someone saw this recipe as stated and served as gluten free to the individual with celiac that individual would become very ill. I know this as its happening to my granddaughter and son.
Erin
Thanks for pointing this out.

Can’t wait to try this! We try to stick to real foods. I grow stevia and use it dried to sweeten tea, but would you consider Truvia or another spoon able stevia a whole or real food?
Rachel @ day2dayjoys
Angela, I think you can consider other stevia (other than growing a plant and using it) real food depending on the ingredients. Hope you like this recipe!
Allison
I excitedly tried this today and kept wondering about the cinnamon but used the 4T as directed. Was it supposed to be 4t? I’m freezing in portions to add to smoothies, way too much cinnamon for our taste. Fun recipe though! And to the previous poster, there are gluten free oats available.
Rachel @ day2dayjoys
Allison, yes we did use 4T but we like cinnamon, you could definitely use less next time. Freezing for smoothies is a wonderful idea!
Shebb
Hi! 🙂 What size crock pot did you use? I’ve only got a 6L slow cooker, so trying to work out how many times I need to multiply the recipe. Thanks in advance! 🙂
Rachel @ day2dayjoys
Hi Shebb, my crockpot is an old vintage 3L one I got from a thrift store. Hope you love this recipe!
Stephanie
Would this recipe work the same with old fashioned oats instead of the quick cooking oats?
Rachel @ day2dayjoys
Stephanie, I am not an expert in oats, but you could give it a try. I would think you might need to add a little liquid for the oats. Let us know how it turns out!
Kelli A.
Do you know if liquid stevia would work and how much of it to sub for the powdered stevia? Thanks a bunch! Looking forward to trying this out.
Erin
I’m not sure as this is Rachel’s recipe. I would try it to taste.
Rachel @ day2dayjoys
Kelli, I haven’t tried it with liquid stevia… I found this conversion chart, hope it helps! http://www.stevitastevia.com/conversion-chart

I just had a baby and can’t have ANY dairy (that includes butter☹️) that being said what if anything can I substitute for the butter and still have it turn out ok? Would coconut oil work or is there something that would work better?
