If you’re looking for easy and healthy snacks for toddlers, then you’ll love these ideas!
Right before my eyes, my baby has turned into a toddler! Although he started eating some solid foods right around 6 months, we really upped the ante by increasing his solid food intake after he turned a year last month.
But, y’all, I’m a mom to four kids. Part-time homeschooling my three girls, writing books, and running the blog keep me on my toes. I need fast yet easy, nutritious, and healthy snacks to feed my toddler.
Little ones 8-24 months get about 25-30% of their daily calories from snacks.
Here are 5 of my favorites:
1. Bananas
Y’all, I call my son a monkey. He loves bananas! We have to keep them on hand at all times. They live on top of our fridge, and he points to them every single morning.
One of the things I love most about this healthy snack for toddlers is that you can just peel and hand them over. I think it makes my son feel like a big boy that he can hold them and feed himself.
2. Whole Grain Puffs and Crunchies
My girls loved eating GERBER® Puffs when they were babies, and my son has recently fallen in love with GERBER® Crunchies! Gerber offers nutritious snacks with good for you ingredients like whole grains, real fruit and yogurt, with no added bad stuff (no artificial flavors/no synthetic colors).
One third of 8-24 month olds are not eating whole grains on a given day, and 90% of 2 and 3 year olds fall short on MyPlate recommendations for whole grains.
These are another snack he can easily feed himself, and they carry so well in the diaper bag.
3. Yogurt
My son’s pediatrician recommended that we start feeding him yogurt, and I’ve found that Gerber Yogurt Melts are an easy way for him to feed this healthy snack to himself.
4. Avocados
While not the best snack to take on the go, avocados are chock full of healthy fats. They are soft yet easy to pick up–making them less of a chocking hazard.
5. Peas or Beans
Small peas or beans are other finger foods that are great for toddler snacks. My son devours lentils, especially!

Our little ones LOVE the yogurt bites as well. We often keep a bag or two (of the yogurt and the puffs) in the diaper bag so when the kids get a little wiggly at church we give them a few pieces so others around us can continue their quiet worship (as quiet as you can get sitting behind toddlers).
