When it comes to health and wellness tips, one area that we may often overlook is getting a better, cleaner shave when you’re shaving your legs or armpits.
After all, most of us have been shaving for more than half our lives by this point. We should already know all there is to know about getting the safest shave, right?
Wrong.
Over the past several years, I’ve been implementing just a few key tips for better shaving. These are things I’m hoping to teach my own daughters when they begin shaving in a few years!
When Dollar Shave Club recently reached out to me to ask if I would be willing to try their Ultimate Shave Starter set and share it with my readers, I jumped at the opportunity. My husband has been a raving fan of Dollar Shave Club for many years. He had tried to get me on board, but I had never taken the plunge.Â
The Ultimate Shave Starter set includes Dollar Shave Club’s Prep Scrub, Shave Butter, Post Shave Dew, Executive Razor Handle, and 2-pack cartridge–all for just $5!! When I realized the quality of the razor, I was shocked the package was this affordable!
More specifically, the kit comes with:
- Executive Handle and Blades – weighty handle and high quality 6 blades
- Tube of Dr. Carver’s Prep Scrub – exfoliate dead skin cells and helps release and prevent ingrown hairs
- Tube of Dr. Carver’s Shave Butter – transparent for a more precise shave, helps fights razor bumps.
- Tube of Dr. Carver’s Post Shave Dew – helps provide hydration and relieves on contact.
The Ultimate Shave Starter set fits perfectly with my method of getting a better, cleaner shaving experience, and I appreciate that Dollar Shave Club  chose to partner with me to get you this valuable information.
Without further ado, here are my…
4 Tips for Better, Cleaner Shaving
1. Prep your skin.
Exfoliating is an important part of the shaving process because it sloughs away old skin cells and enhances new skin to shine. It’s important to get the dead skin away before shaving.
Part of the kit that Dollar Shave Club sent me included their Prep Scrub, which I found very easy to use. It made my skin feel great as well!
2. Lather up.
There’s nothing worse than razor burn, and I think we’ve all been there at some point. If you’re out of shaving cream or shaving lotion, don’t resort to dry shaving. This can wreak havoc on your skin! In the very least, opt for soap.
I loved trying the Dollar Shave Club ‘s Shave Butter. It left my skin silky soft after I was finished shaving!
3. Use a quality razor.
I have to admit that I was guilty of using cheap, no-name razors for years. My legs and armpits paid for this with lots of nicks. Cheap razors can also make the shaving process longer.
My absolute favorite part of the kit Dollar Shave Club sent me was their razor! I finally understood what my husband had been raving about for so many years! As soon as I picked up the razor, I immediately felt the quality. I didn’t suffer any cuts while using it, and the razor allowed me to get a very good, clean shave in no time.
4. Change razors frequently.
Did you know that shaving is just one variable that affects how your skin looks and feels? Although not in the initial starter sent, Dollar Shave Club sent me their 3oz. Post Shave Cream to keep my skin moisturized and protected from dryness all season long. Although my husband has been an fan of Dollar Shave Club for many years, I had no idea that they also have you covered for all your grooming needs – shower, oral care, deodorants and most importantly, shaving.
