This post gives a recipe for a delicious, easy, dairy-free cake icing that tastes just like buttercream. It’s great for anyone avoiding dairy!
If you’re dairy-free, you don’t have to miss out on a buttercream cake icing that tastes just like the real thing.
The following recipe is easy, delicious and will have even your dairy-eating counterparts begging for more.
Dairy-Free Cake Icing
- 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar or sucanat*
- 1/2 cup palm shortening (I get mine in bulk from Tropical Traditions.)
- 4+ Tbsp. rice, almond or coconut milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Cream the shortening and sugar.
- Add 4 Tbsp. milk of choice and vanilla.
This will yield a nice, thick frosting. If you would like a thinner version, add more milk--a little at a time.
You can make your own powdered sucanat by pulsing it in a blender. Note that it does have a stronger, molassesy taste.
I used this dairy-free cake icing on Little Girl’s birthday cake last week. I used Indian Tree food coloring (which are natural food dyes) to tint the icing. It turned out great and was a hit with the kids!
I would love to try this honey-sweetened frosting sometime as well (with palm shortening instead of butter).
Have you ever made dairy-free cake icing?
Disclosure: I have included referral links in this post.
I also dealt with food allergies for my daughter for about 5 years. I then found a wonderful Christian Nurse Practitioner who left the medical field and now works in energy (frequency) medicine (quantum physics applied to medicine). Within 3 weeks my daughter was healed and now 2 1/2 years later she is still able to eat anything without any symptoms! I don’t know if I am able to give the website for this office in Franklin, TN so contact me if you want more information. It is frequency based so no chemical is introduced to the body, only God-created frequencies.
I would love the info., Kristin! Can you please link to it and maybe I can look for one in my area (and the readers can look in their areas?!). I have thought about doing GAPS, but it is honestly all so overwhelming. Plus, GAPS relies so heavily on meat (expensive) and eggs (which we’re up a creek without a paddle there!). Thanks!
I would love it too. We also have shied away from GAPS because of my children’s egg allergies.
I posted a reply for you but not sure I did it in the right place…it is a portion of my conversation with Erin with the info about the quantum meds.
Erin asked me to post my reply to her with the info….so here it is:
The website is www.advancedsciencewellness.com . Tiffany Dubray is the designer of the frequency combinations….I don’t say creator since God created these frequencies:) Anyway, I am not sure if you would find anyone in your area “doing” this….it is relatively new in the alternative field. There is also a website… www.hcmionline.com that has a lot of info on the frequency applications as well from a biblical perspective.
An office visit is not required since the frequency meds are combined to address certain problem in the body, but they will talk with you and suggest which ones to start with. My father is a naturopathic doctor in MI and I have been around all forms of alternative my entire life, and I will tell you this is the only form I have come across to address so many issues for the least amount of money. We were seeing a lady for electrodermal testing (reading frequencies through a computer) but that required monthly office visits and purchasing many products….equaling much money.
Tiffany recently presented at Autism One…which I believe is one of the biggest autism conferences for MD’s and alternatives. I am not sure if they have info on the website yet about their presentation but you could call and speak with them about it. Mention that you have a Christian blog and they may have more links for you to link to the blog (I am not sure of that). She has only been working with the public for a little over 2 years so not sure of how much technology they have designed for the wellness center. Our family is one of the first families to work with her so mention my name “Kristin Koglin” and they will know who I am. You can mention “one of my readers..Kristin Koglin…” since I frequent your blog often! I truly enjoy it!
Also, if you are interested in speaking with another family who uses the remedies and has an amazing testimonial on how her son was diagnosed with schizophrenia and gained 200 pounds on pharmaceuticals the docs prescribed, then took the remedies and now is off all pharmaceuticals, down to a normal weight, and no longer diagnosed schizophrenia but dealing only with OCD and SI disorder! He is still taking remedies and my friend believes he will be healed eventually! She tells everyone she meets about how God is using this form of medicine to naturally heal their family, so I know she would gladly give you a testimonial:)!
Well, I really could go on for a long time….thank you for responding and being willing to investigate healthy alternatives!
I am not able to get the website up. We live in the area.
I LOVE what you post!!!!!
I used this recipe tonight for a child’s birthday cake, and I added 1/2 tsp butter extract. It was delicious – perfect on snickerdoodle cupcakes! Thanks so much for posting!
