Inside: I recently tried out the Perdue Farms meat delivery service, and I was surprised at what they have to offer. Here’s my honest Perdue Farms review.
While my family cannot afford to purchase 100 percent organic foods, we prioritize maintaining a healthy diet within our budget.
When it comes to choosing which items to purchase organic, I learned long ago that buying organic meats trumps almost every other area of your grocery list.
I would rather purchase conventional produce (yes, even from the dirty dozen list!) than not eat fruits and veggies at all. But there are times when I’ve thought that I would rather be a vegetarian than sacrifice our quality of meat (or at least the meats we consume on a regular basis).
Over the years, our family has purchased high-quality and organic meats in a variety of ways, depending on our budget at the time:
- We’ve purchased near-expiration marked-down meats from the grocery store.
- We’ve used our tax returns to purchase half a cow from a local farm.
- We’ve used ButcherBox, a meat delivery membership service that delivers organic meats to our door.
When I first tried ButcherBox, there were no other meat delivery services on the market, but there are now several similar businesses. I love that they deliver straight to your door!
One such meat delivery service is Perdue Farms. In this post, I’m going to give my honest, comprehensive review of the Perdue Farms meat delivery service.

A Completely Honest Perdue Farms Review
Perdue Farms, which has been around for more than 100 years, now has its own meat delivery service. In fact, in response to increasing customer demand, Perdue has also expanded to producing organic and antibiotic-free poultry products. Finding out that Perdue now places priority in organic products really piqued my interest in their meat delivery service!
While Perdue Farms did not compensate me monetarily for this post, they did send me a complimentary box of meat to try. My box included organic chicken breasts, breaded gluten-free chicken tenders, organic ground chicken, uncured pork bacon, and organic ground beef. These were perfect selections for my family, as we tend to prioritize simple cuts of meats that will stretch far for our family of six.

1. Perdue is committed to sustainability and humane farming methods.
In addition to having a long reputation as a leading producer of poultry, Perdue Farms has a great reputation for its sustainability efforts. Their earth-friendly initiatives include sustainably designed shipping boxes made from 100 percent recyclable cardboard and biodegradable, compostable packing foam and green farming methods. Perdue is such a mainstream brand name that I was–and I’m a little embarrassed to say this–surprised that they also place priority on humane animal care.
According to their website, Perdue’s “free-range birds enjoy access to the great outdoors, where they are free to roam, soak up the sunlight and do things chickens do naturally.”
In addition, Perdue’s brand Pasturebird raises chickens “on fresh pasture 24 hours a day, 7 days a week after three weeks of brooding. Chickens thrive on a natural diet of grasses, weeds, seeds, insects and no-antibiotics-ever grains.”
As well, Perdue promises that they never crate their hogs or give them antibiotics. For beef, Perdue works with ranchers who “adhere to strict organic, non-GMO and regenerative protocols.” Perdue promised that they never administer hormones or antibiotics to their cattle or feed them animal by-products.
2. Perdue offers a wide selection of high quality and organic meats (not just chicken!).
Perdue Farms has also expanded beyond poultry. Via their Perdue Farms meat delivery service, you can order:
- Chicken (of course!): In addition to organic chicken, Perdue Farms offers conventional and free range chicken in a variety of cuts, including organic ground chicken (which they sent me to try!). As well, they also offer breaded chicken, including gluten-free breaded chicken (cue my family’s happy dance since we all six eat a gluten-free diet!).
- Beef: They offer organic ground beef and burgers, including beef that is grass-fed and grass-finished. They also offer organic, grass-fed stew meat and steaks. They also offer uncured beef and a combo of uncured beef and pork hot dogs.
- Pork: From bacon, chops and roasts, sausages and hot dogs, and ham, Perdue Farms offers a wide variety of pork options. This includes options that are certified humane, crate free, and heritage breed.
- Turkey: Chicken isn’t the only poultry Perdue Farms offers! While, at this writing, I don’t see organic turkeys in their online store, they do offer a variety of turkey options.
- Seafood: This is one of my fave meat categories because seafood is incredibly healthy. At this writing, Perdue Farms is offering salmon, jumbo shrimp, lump crab cakes, and even mussels.
- Sides and Desserts: Yes, they even offer this, in addition to meats! While their sides and desserts are more limited, I did see that they offer green beans, several different types of cooked potatoes, and a selection of cakes and pastries.

3. Perdue Farm’s meat delivery service delivers straight to your door!
As a very busy work-from-home mom of four, the convenience of having food delivered to my door is a huge pro for me.
I especially appreciate that Perdue’s meat delivery service is not a membership. You can order as often or as little as you want with no risk of “surprise” deliveries.
The fact that is it not a membership really makes Perdue Farm‘s meat delivery service stand out to me above some of the other meat delivery services. While I do love many, many features of ButcherBox, and my family has maintained our membership (albeit pausing and delaying shipments sometimes), I really appreciate that we are locked into nothing at all with Perdue Farms.
As well, the boxes from Perdue Farms are easily customized. Instead of being locked into a certain number of cuts, you can simply shop for whatever you want from their website, like many online retailers.
Perdue Farms also offers free shipping on all orders over $159.99. I’m all about free shipping!
Cons of the Perdue Farms Meat Delivery Service
Honestly, the pricing of the Perdue Farms meats is the only drawbacks I can see in this service. While the quality of the meat is amazing, the prices are on the higher side compared to what I would pay at a local grocery store.
This is where their bundles and special deals come in. If you sign up for their newsletter and pay attention to their deals, you will be able to get their quality of meat for a more affordable price than their retail.
